Jeep & ATV Desert Safaris, Hiking in the Eilat Mountains
Eilat is surrounded by mountains, which makes exploring its surroundings by regular car not always possible. With Israel2Go, you can embark on an exciting journey by jeep or ATV (tractoron), allowing you to admire the stunning landscapes while enjoying an adrenaline rush. These tours are extremely popular among visitors to Eilat.
For those seeking adventure, three main desert routes are typically offered:
- A four-hour safari through Timna Valley and the Hai-Bar Nature Reserve, located about 35 km north of the Gulf of Eilat. Travelers are rewarded with breathtaking desert scenery, a picturesque lake, and a traditional Bedouin lunch.
- A safari to the Red Canyon, following a route through Wadi Shlomo along the Rahavam stream. The journey begins with a climb to a scenic viewpoint, followed by the discovery of a freshwater spring in the heart of the desert, and concludes with a descent into the canyon.
- A route featuring Amram’s Pillars, the Black Canyon, Mount Yoash, and Solomon’s Gorge. This tour takes you through striking granite formations and includes an ascent to Mount Yoash, offering panoramic views of Israel, Egypt, and Jordan.
Jeep tours from Eilat can start at any convenient time and from any location within the city. Both daytime and nighttime excursions are available.
For those eager to experience the thrill of off-road driving, we also recommend ATVs and tractorons, which you can drive yourself.
Camel Ranch & Desert Rides
Just a 10-minute drive from Eilat, in the heart of the scenic Wadi Shlomo, lies a perfect getaway offering an authentic desert atmosphere—combining adventure and tranquility against the backdrop of a stunning natural landscape. From camel rides and donkey cart tours to an impressive rope adventure park—the largest in Israel—and even high-end corporate events, this unique location offers something for everyone.
A camel trek through the desert is an experience beyond words. Imagine magical silence, crystal-clear air, and a primal landscape stretching endlessly to the horizon. All of this becomes part of your journey as you ride through the desert on camels. Gently swaying with their calm, steady քայլs, the caravan moves along dry riverbeds and ascends into the mountains—truly an unforgettable experience.
Camel trekking here began in 1987. Why camels (specifically female camels)? Because they are known for their calm temperament, intelligence, obedience, and sociable nature. They may be a bit more “talkative,” but that only adds to their charm. (Interestingly, the Israeli Ministry of Education has prohibited school groups from riding male camels.)
The camels are trained gently, using only voice commands, with patience and care. They are well-trained, friendly, and carefully looked after, with strict routines for feeding and care. Each camel even has her own name.
No prior riding experience is required to join a trek. For beginners, a camel is an ideal companion—stable, tall, broad, and slow-moving. The saddles are designed for maximum comfort. The ranch offers a variety of routes of different lengths, all starting and ending at the ranch and guided by experienced, professionally trained instructors who will share fascinating insights about camels and the desert along the way.
Since 2001, the ranch has also developed a dairy project, producing gourmet goat cheeses from Anglo-Nubian goats. Visitors can taste and purchase a variety of products on-site, including labaneh (a soft spreadable cheese), labaneh balls in olive oil, Tzfat cheese, feta-style cheeses, Camembert-style cheeses, yogurt, and fresh milk.
The Israel2Go team will be delighted to help you visit this unique camel ranch and enjoy an unforgettable desert experience.
Shooting Range Experience
The shooting range at the Yam Suf Hotel (formerly the Ambassador) is one of the most modern of its kind in the world. Here, visitors can try a wide variety of firearms available in Israel (excluding heavy weapons), including live weapons such as the legendary Uzi submachine gun.
The experience is enhanced by realistic video simulations of combat scenarios in a cinematic, “cowboy-style” setting, allowing participants to immerse themselves in an action-packed environment.
Bedouin Evening (with Belly Dancing)
In a traditional Bedouin tent, lovers of exotic experiences will be treated to an authentic Bedouin dinner, Eastern sweets, fresh flatbread, and tea. The highlight of the evening, of course, is a captivating belly dancing performance.
WOW Show
Original programs that combine elements of ballet, circus performance, and musical fantasy, enriched with humor and a touch of magic. This captivating show features artists from around the world and includes a wide range of breathtaking acrobatic acts.
The performance takes place in the evening at the Isrotel Theater, located in the same building as the Isrotel Royal Garden Hotel. Guests of the Isrotel hotel chain are offered special ticket rates for the show.
Shopping in Eilat
Shopping in Israel is certainly possible in many cities, but Eilat has a unique advantage. The city has been designated a duty-free zone, which means that VAT is not included in the prices of goods in local shops.
The price difference is especially noticeable in Israeli chain stores. In Eilat, prices are significantly lower than in other parts of the country, and this is often clearly indicated on price tags, showing both the standard “Israel price” and the reduced “Eilat price.” Since Eilat is VAT-free, there is no need for tourists to apply for Tax Free refunds.
High-end shopping in Eilat is mainly represented by well-known international brands such as Zara, Mango, Castro, H&M, and others. The main concentration of fashion boutiques is along the seaside promenade, where you can also find collections from leading Israeli designers, including Gottex, Sela, Michal Negrin, and more.
