Tours to Israel » Туры » History of Victories. In the Footsteps of Jewish Valor
Tour author — guide Aryeh Turovsky
I invite you to travel the roads of courage and military valor and visit the places where the fate of the world has been decided throughout history.
We will journey from north to south across Israel, following the footsteps of Jewish military glory from the time of the first kings to the present day. Israel is a country with such a rich history that the past is inseparable from the present. We will visit the fortress of Gamla, the stronghold of the Jewish rebels against Rome, and nearby we will see the site of one of the largest tank battles in history — the Valley of Tears during the Yom Kippur War.
We will visit Acre (Akko) and the former British prison from which Jewish underground fighters carried out a daring escape.
We will explore underground tunnels dating back to the Bar Kokhba Revolt and battlefields from the War of Independence. You will see that valor is shown not only on the battlefield but also in everyday life. We will meet Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria, whose lives on their ancestral land, surrounded by hostility, are themselves an act of courage.
And of course, we will come to the eternal symbol of the Jewish struggle for its rights — Jerusalem, a city that still stirs the world today. We will see where it all began, what exists now, and the price that was paid for it. And this is only part of what awaits us.
This is not a standard sightseeing tour. It is a journey for those who value courage and honor, who are not afraid of challenging routes, and who are able to understand that the centuries-old bond between a people and its land has been paid for at a very high price.
Special option: visit to the Caliber 3 Combat Training Center in the Judean Hills, as well as a meeting with the commander of the rapid response unit of Jerusalem’s Old City and a walk through places where tourists rarely go — if, of course, you are not afraid…
The schedule and days of excursions depend on the arrival date.
Changes to the itinerary and excursion schedule may occur on national and religious Jewish and Christian holidays, as well as due to circumstances beyond the company’s control (such as weather conditions, etc.).
If an excursion takes place on Saturday, all movement will be on foot only.
Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport. Transfer to northern Israel.
We begin our journey in the northern part of the country with a visit to the ruins of the Gamla Fortress, the stronghold of the Jewish rebels during the Jewish War against Rome. We will also overlook the Syrian–Israeli border from the summit of Mount Bental, where one of the largest tank battles in military history took place.
Visit to Kibbutz Tel Hai, which once served as a frontier outpost protecting Jewish settlements and stood at the origins of the future security forces of the Jewish state. Scenic drive along the Lebanese border with discussion of the complex relations between Israel and Lebanon and the causes that led to the Second Lebanon War.
And finally, if time permits, we will visit a winery in Katzrin for a tasting of wines produced by one of Israel’s renowned wineries.
Overnight stay in the Golan Heights.
Mount Arbel served as an impregnable fortress during the reign of King Herod and later became a stronghold of Jewish rebels. We will descend the mountain along a special route and examine the ancient fortifications up close. Not far from Mount Arbel, the decisive battle between the Crusader army and Saladin took place in 1187 — the battle that brought an end to the First Kingdom of Jerusalem.
During the Crusader era, Acre (Akko) — then known as Acre/Akra — became the capital of the Second Kingdom of Jerusalem. Here we will see Crusader fortresses, the quarters of Italian merchants, and many other remnants of the medieval city. We will also visit the former British prison, where members of the Jewish underground were imprisoned during the British Mandate period and from which they carried out their daring escape in 1947.
Caesarea — the city of Herod, the first Christians, and Sultan Baybars. It was here, in 66 CE, that the Jewish revolt against Roman rule erupted. Today Caesarea remains one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in Israel.
Finally, we visit the Atlit Museum, dedicated to the history of illegal Jewish immigration to Israel during the British Mandate era.
Overnight stay in Jerusalem.
We will visit the archaeological remains of a fortress dating back to the period of the First Temple (10th–6th centuries BCE), which became one of the final strongholds of Judea during the Babylonian invasion.
We will explore an underground city and the caves used by the followers of Bar Kokhba during the Jewish revolt against the Roman Emperor Hadrian (132–135 CE). These same caves were later visited by soldiers of Anders’ Army in 1942. We will also see a Roman amphitheater once used for gladiatorial combat and the castle of the Knights Hospitaller.
On the way to Jerusalem, we will visit the Israeli Armored Corps Museum, an open-air museum featuring a wide range of military vehicles, including the Merkava, considered one of the best tanks in the world.

Judea and Samaria — In the Heart of History
I invite you to visit the places that continue to captivate the attention of the entire world — Judea and Samaria, the historic homeland of the Jewish people. We will see the ancient holy sites of Hebron, including a synagogue-fortress in the southern Hebron Hills, and discuss the heroic struggle for this region during the difficult days of the War of Independence.
We will visit Jewish farms, meet their residents, taste organic local products, and discover how even everyday life here can become an act of courage.
Special option: the Caliber 3 Training Center offers a unique opportunity to become acquainted with various types of small arms under the guidance of experienced Russian-speaking instructors.

I invite you to test yourself and your endurance. At sunrise, like the Roman legionaries of old, we will make a hiking ascent to Masada — the famous fortress built by King Herod and the final stronghold of the Jewish rebels against Rome. I promise that the descent will be much easier — by cable car.
Afterward, we will visit the protected oasis of Ein Gedi, where, according to tradition, David once hid from King Saul, and where, it is said, the last leopards of Israel may still roam.
And of course, there will be time for swimming in the Dead Sea, one of the natural wonders of our country.
Optional activities include spa treatments at one of the coastal wellness centers and a visit to a Dead Sea cosmetics store.
Overnight stay in Jerusalem.
We will visit the City of David, the place where the history of Jerusalem began. Walking through the tunnel carved during the reign of King Hezekiah, we will speak about the Assyrian siege of Jerusalem, the Babylonian exile, and the eventual return and rebirth of the Jewish people.
Yad Vashem — the memorial and research center dedicated to the Holocaust of the Jewish people during the Second World War. This chapter can never be erased from Jewish memory. Yet alongside the horror and destruction, it also preserves the stories of unimaginable courage and the strength of spirit that allowed people to maintain their human dignity in the face of tragedy.
Walking tour through the Old City of Jerusalem — the heart of the land and the people of Israel. For generations and centuries, Jews longed for this city, lost it, and regained it once more. We will enter through the Jaffa Gate, walk through the Armenian and Jewish Quarters to the Western Wall — the remaining section of the wall that once surrounded the Temple. We will exit through the Dung Gate and continue to the Lions’ Gate, through which Israeli paratroopers entered and liberated Jerusalem during the Six-Day War.
