When Is the Best Time to Travel to Israel?

The climate in Israel is well suited for travel year-round. July and August are the hottest months, so if you prefer milder weather, it’s best to plan your trip for another time.

The most comfortable season for touring Israel is from March to June, when you can combine sightseeing with relaxation on the Mediterranean, Red, and Dead Sea. Autumn—from September to November—is also an excellent time to visit.

From December to February, temperatures are cooler and there may be occasional rain. However, on sunny days, temperatures can still reach 20–25°C (68–77°F). Winters are noticeably milder along the coast—in Tel Aviv, Netanya, and Haifa—than in Jerusalem. If you are planning a budget-friendly trip focused on sightseeing rather than beach holidays, the period from December to February is a good choice, as hotel prices are generally lower.

Israel is a small country, but the weather varies by region. For example, at the Dead Sea, conditions are sunny almost year-round, with very little rainfall—even in winter, it remains warm and bright. On the Red Sea, in Eilat, water temperatures remain fairly constant throughout the year at around 22–24°C (72–75°F). In winter, air temperatures can reach up to 26°C (79°F) in the shade, making it possible to swim and sunbathe even during this season.

When planning your trip, it is important to consider the dates of Jewish and Christian holidays, as hotel prices in some cities may be higher than usual during these periods.
