Main tourist seasons in Israel

Hotels and beaches

There is no official hotel star rating system in Israel; however, an approximate classification is used for the convenience of guests, which does not always correspond to standards adopted in other countries. Most hotels are members of the Israel Hotel Association and are licensed by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism. All hotel rooms are equipped with a standard set of amenities: air conditioning, telephone, television, toilet, and a bathroom or shower. In 4- and 5-star hotels, rooms additionally include a minibar, safe, and hairdryer. Most hotels, except those in Eilat and Tel Aviv, do not have extensive surrounding территории. In many hotels, from Friday evening to Saturday evening (Shabbat), one of the elevators operates as a “Shabbat elevator,” meaning it runs automatically and stops on every floor.

In accordance with Jewish dietary laws (kashrut), meat dishes are not served for breakfast, and dairy products are not served for dinner in hotels. Breakfast is typically served buffet-style and includes various types of cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese, butter, fresh vegetable salads, olives, eggs, canned and salted fish, rolls, jam, tea, and coffee. Dinner, also served buffet-style, usually includes a variety of salads, soup, meat, chicken or fish dishes with side dishes, and dessert. Soft drinks, beer, wine, tea, or coffee are available for an additional charge. In some 3-star hotels, meals are served à la carte (set portions).

In most 4- and 5-star hotels, guests may be required to provide a deposit of $100–200 in cash or leave credit card details as a guarantee upon check-in. If guests use additional services (such as the minibar or telephone), they can choose to pay in cash or by credit card upon check-out.

The standard check-in time is usually 2:00 PM, and check-out time is 11:00 AM.

In case of early arrival or late departure, luggage can be left at the hotel’s luggage storage.

Beaches in Israel are public, and beach equipment is available for a fee. Some hotels lease sections of the beach where their guests can use sunbeds, chairs, and umbrellas free of charge.
