Tours to Israel » Туры » Tel Aviv and Jerusalem with Oleg Nesterov
A group tour created by the Mikhail Kozhukhov Travel Club together with Israel2Go.
According to local resident Boris, Tel Aviv is like a giant battery that charges everyone with positive energy. Only here can you find yourself stuck in traffic in the middle of the night, see mothers strolling along the seafront with baby carriages at the same hour, and watch eighty-year-old men and women jogging along the promenade side by side with students. During the February holidays, we will discover this true “city of the young and beautiful.”
We will take part in a traditional Shabbat gathering within a Messianic Jewish community, learn to cook traditional dishes under the guidance of Maria Pisanets, explore Jerusalem through conversations with local residents, meet musicians, browse vinyl record stores, and much more — all in the company of writer and musician Oleg Nesterov. Young and beautiful, just like you.
Young, vibrant Tel Aviv will reveal whatever we wish to discover. But no one can truly understand a city without tasting its everyday food. We will visit the market, buy fresh ingredients, and then cook them in either Jewish or Arab style in the kitchen of a local restaurant. And of course, we will go out to sea with fishermen, then prepare and enjoy everything we catch.
A city also cannot be understood without human connection. We will visit an Arab family for traditional tea, then stop by a “House of Jewish-Arab Friendship.” We will meet a community of Jews who practice Judaism while believing in Jesus Christ, Russian Protestants, and Orthodox Arabs.
And naturally, there will be museums — where we will meet artists and sculptors whose works are exhibited there.
Musicians, vinyl record shops, theater rehearsals, and conversations with actors await us as well.
And of course — nightlife. Tel Aviv would not be Tel Aviv without it.
Tel Aviv is a city of the young and beautiful.
And so are we.
Welcome to Tel Aviv! In the morning we arrive at Ben Gurion Airport, meet our guide Boris, and head to the hotel. After dropping off our luggage, we set out to explore the city.
To begin, we will visit Arab Maronites for a late breakfast at an Arab café in Jaffa. Good coffee, fresh pastries, and a warm conversation with the café owner — a longtime friend of Boris — await us there.
Afterwards, we head to Tel Aviv’s famous antique market, open only on Fridays. We will chat with local vendors, many of whom speak Russian, bargain for unusual treasures, and then stroll through the restored German Templar district of Sarona in the heart of Tel Aviv.
Soon it will be time for lunch at the legendary “Shmulik Cohen” restaurant, founded in 1936. This family-run establishment has been serving guests for generations. Boris will introduce us to the chef, and with his recommendations we will choose the most delicious dishes on the menu.
Later, we visit a Messianic Jewish community. The evening promises to be rich with impressions as we experience a traditional Jewish Shabbat gathering. Ahead of us also awaits a visit to a Russian Lutheran church and, of course, dinner — if we still have the energy left for it.
Today we travel to discover Jerusalem and the people who call it home. We begin at the panoramic viewpoint on the Mount of Olives, right at the meeting point between Jerusalem and the desert, before continuing to the highest point in the city.
We will then walk through the quarters of the Old City — the Christian, Armenian, Jewish, and Muslim quarters — all in the company of our guide, Boris Brestovitsky.
Lunch will be at perhaps the most unusual restaurant in Jerusalem — a fish restaurant! A city without a sea or a river, yet home to an outstanding seafood restaurant. And delicious, too.
By evening, we return to Tel Aviv.
Today we dedicate our day to discovering the “new” Tel Aviv. Through Boris’s stories, we will learn why Tel Aviv is called the “White City” and how it became an open-air museum of modern architecture.
Soon afterward, we will stop for lunch at the restaurant “Baba Yaga,” where we will meet chef Maria Pisanets, winner of the Royal Chef competition and the youngest participant in the competition’s history. Together we will discuss the menu before heading to the Carmel Market to buy fresh ingredients and prepare traditional dishes under Maria’s guidance.
Next, we visit the Museum of the Jewish Diaspora — the only museum in the world where one can truly understand who the Jewish people are and how they have lived throughout history. We will also explore Neve Tzedek (“Abode of Justice”), the very first neighborhood of Tel Aviv, where we will discover who built this city among the dunes — and why.
Toward evening, we will wander into Florentin — the city’s bohemian student district and lively center of bars, cafés, and nightlife.
Afterwards, we return to relax at the Market House Hotel.
After a delicious breakfast, we head to Old Jaffa. There we will visit the Ilana Goor Museum, home and gallery of the internationally renowned Israeli artist. With a bit of luck, we may even meet the artist herself.
Afterward, Boris will guide us through the architectural “delicacies” of Tel Aviv. We will have time to explore the famous Flea Market, browse music shops and vinyl stores, and, of course, chat with local music lovers along the way.
Toward evening, we gather for a farewell dinner at a restaurant in the Port of Jaffa, before departing for the airport.
